Cell Phone and Wearable Policy: At Hudson City Schools, we are committed to protecting the integrity of our students’ instructional day. Academic success, personal growth, and genuine connection with others flourish best when students are fully present in their learning environment. To support this vision, the following is our PreK-5 approach to cell phone use that encourages focus, reduces distractions, and promotes healthy habits around technology.
PreK–5 (McDowell, Ellsworth Hill & East Woods Intermediate)
Student cell phone use during the school day is not permitted.
Smartwatches and phones must be put in either student lockers or in student bookbags. They may not be used during the school day.
Toys at School: Please refrain from having your child bring toys to school - unless it is for a theme day for your child’s class (aka PJ/Stuffy Day). Toys like Pokemon cards have caused some distractions in our classrooms during instruction. Thank you, in advance, for discussing this with your child(ren) and for your assistance with this matter!
Student Absences and Attendance: Any time a student is absent or late to school, it is necessary to call 330-653-1300. This attendance line is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please state the following: child’s name, parent’s name, teacher’s name, date of absence, and a brief reason for the absence.
New Sign IN/Sign OUT procedure: To help parents with signing in or out your students, we have moved to a Google Form via a QR Code. Parents should bring their ID and phone when signing in/out students. Parents, we ask that you complete the form before the student can be released.
