Hudson Preschool Parents Philanthropy
Community Donation Drive supporting students at Akron East Community Learning Center. Hudson Preschool Parents are collecting new and gently used items to help provide students with the athletic and everyday essentials they need, including athletic shoes/cleats, athletic clothing, basketballs, footballs, soccer equipment, hygiene products, and other sports-related items.
Donations will be accepted through Saturday, September 19th, with collection opportunities at upcoming Hudson community events, including Hudson High School Homecoming on September 18th; and all Hawks games on September 19th.
We will have clearly marked donation drop-off locations at the stadiums during these events, making it easy for families to bring and donate their items. Donations can also be dropped off at designated local HPP Philanthropy Board members’ homes for added convenience.
Parent Information
Toys at School: Please refrain from having your child bring toys to school - unless it is for a theme day for your child’s class (aka PJ/Stuffy Day). Toys like Pokemon cards have caused some distractions in our classrooms during instruction. Thank you, in advance, for discussing this with your child(ren) and for your assistance with this matter!
Cell Phone and Wearable Policy: At Hudson City Schools, we are committed to protecting the integrity of our students’ instructional day. Academic success, personal growth, and genuine connection with others flourish best when students are fully present in their learning environment. To support this vision, the following is our PreK-5 approach to cell phone use that encourages focus, reduces distractions, and promotes healthy habits around technology.
PreK–5 (McDowell, Ellsworth Hill & East Woods Intermediate) Student cell phone use during the school day is not permitted. Smartwatches and phones must be put in either student lockers or in student bookbags. They may not be used during the school day.
Sign IN/Sign OUT procedure: To help parents with signing in or out your students, we have moved to a Google Form via a QR Code. Parents should bring their ID and phone when signing in/out students. Parents, we ask that you complete the form before the student can be released.
ParentSquare: Updating Your Contact Information
Now that ParentSquare is up and running, some families have tried to update their email address or phone number in the app. Here’s what to know: ParentSquare syncs contact information (phone numbers, email addresses) directly from our student information system (HAC). Changes made in ParentSquare will not save.
To update your contact information, please log in to Home Access Center (HAC) and make your changes there. Updates will appear in ParentSquare by the next school day. Need help with your HAC login? Check out this guide, or contact the Hudson City Schools’ Help Desk at 330-653-1400 or helpdesk@hudson.k12.oh.us.
You can manage how you receive messages from us directly in ParentSquare. Under your name, select Preferences to choose email, text, or app notifications, and decide if you’d like messages as they arrive or in a daily digest.
NOTE: Some teachers, especially in the younger grades, use a separate classroom communication tool for daily updates. If you hear from your child’s teacher on a platform outside of ParentSquare, that is expected.
